to watch a day die

In order for me to live a day

a day must die

Are you assured that you are safe?
Walking so fast paced
getting your do’s done.

I believe you,
as I believe a rock will float,
I say that ‘humble.’

In a blink of an eye
a pistols fire-port can barrel metal
for nothing more than your sunglasses.

shades dim
to darken their soul
too late to ask, “Why?”

Now I grab the day
by the neck and twist
the life out of it.

Then kiss it good-bye
like a monkey vine to vine
from one to another.

Why do I hone my sword
if I pray not to use it?
In case I have to.

I’m but a guppy

caught up in a current’s swirl,
life’s constant struggle.

It’s not that I want my sunglasses
that badly, it’s just that I would like
to watch a few more days die.

Watching colors submerge

entranced in a days death

one more day I live.

The Yin Yang turns
from light to dark
forever spinning

  8. Very deep. Never thought of that in order for a new day to happen the previous day has to die — for those that believe in reincarnation, the same holds true — can’t go onto the next life without giving up the current one.
