Motivation is literally the desire to do things. It’s the difference between waking up before dawn to pound the pavement and lazing around the house all day. It’s the crucial element in setting and attaining goals—and research shows you can influence your own levels of motivation and self-control. So figure out what you want, power through the pain period, and start being who you want to be.

I recently pulled the motor out of my old truck with expectations of having it running by the first of next year. A goal I have set. I anticipate the day I can drive my ancient (tank) of a truck. In doing this it reminds me of goal setting, in all aspects of life. In a career, school, weigh loss, buissness, or what ever goal you have set, it takes time. I would love to just pull a motor and replace all the eccential components in a matter of hours but It takes time to restore an old automobile. (I guess I should take before and after photos.) The hurdles of time, money and weather in order to achieve this goal means I will need patience.

The truck I’ve had since the 90’s when my uncle gave it to me as a birthday present that he at that time had restored. I drove it till a couple of years ago when I replaced the motor and not a week later took it to on a trip across Texas with my new bride. Not only the memories tied to this truck but my Uncle passed away, so when the motor locked up, I parked it till I could rebuild it which is… Now!

I have had lots of offers to buy the truck when it was not running but refused to sell it. So, my goal to restore it is coming soon and it feels good to set a goal and come close to achieving that goal.
